What You Need To Consider When Buying A Powerhouse Generator

When buying special equipment and machines that have utmost importance in the household, for the business or for any other essential needs, it is important that you go for the ones that match your needs.

This is the same when buying a Powerhouse generator. You need to make sure that you are looking at one that suits your needs, can last a long time of use and comes with features that can make the unit’s power generation more effective.

1. Wattage Or Power Output

When it comes to buying any generator, there is one thing that you should always bear in mind – and that is the power output or the wattage. In this regard, you will find two power outages or wattages in your ideal generator.

First is the starting watts or also known as the peak power of the generator and the other is the running watts or the continuous power out of the unit.

To find the ideal power output of your generator, you need to consider the equipment or electrical devices that you will be providing power to.

Say if you’re looking to provide lighting for the whole house or deliver power to tools that generate heat then it would be best to opt for generators with substantial power output.

On the other hand, if you’re just looking to provide power for sensitive electrical devices such as laptops and cellphones then a smaller power output out of your generator or invertor would be better.

2. Fuel Type

Choose fuel type is also essential to make the most out of your generator. Among the fuel types at present include gas, diesel or propane. As you consider the fuel type of your generator, think about which one is easy to obtain locally and one that has an amendable price.

3. Portable Or Stationary

It is also important to consider if you’ll want your generator to be portable or stationary or fixed in just one place. With regards to this consideration, you simply need to know if you’ll be carrying the unit around or if it will just stay in a certain spot.

While you consider the portability of the generator, you need to bear in mind that making the generator more portable lessens its power output since most of its components will be reduced – especially the fuel tank.

A stationary generator on the other hand can provide substantial power output and are designed to be bulkier but more durable.

4. Inverter Or The Traditional Generator

One popular advancement in generators is the inverter technology. This technology allows safe power distribution to the “more sensitive” devices such as cellphones, computers, TVs, Microwave ovens and others. Inverters generator clean electricity devoid of any power surges during operation.

In addition, inverters make sure of smart throttle feature which automatically adjusts its power output as you use your devices or turn on the lights. There are many benefits of using an inverter, however the price can be quite ridiculous compared to the traditional generator.

On the other hand, traditional generators are much cheaper, easier to maintain and comes with lesser controls and functions. While it can be the older design, it is still preferred by most users because of its durability and reliability.

5. Noise

One thing that generators are known for is that they produce a loud noise during operation which may not be very pleasing to the ears. When looking for a generator, make sure that the noise produced is manageable.

Each generator is provided with its noise levels and is measured in decibels or dB. Modern generators have a decibel or noise level that can range from 55-75 dB with 0 as absolutely no noise. The lesser the noise levels of your generator, the better.

I purchased a Powerhouse 4000 W INV Generator in Alberta Canada just prior to Traveling to Arizona. Generator ran well for a couple of times then wouldn’t start. Called Powerhouse. Gave a list of Dealers in Mesa and Phoenix. None of them could get me in for a Month. Got back to Canada and Dealer sent it away for repair. 2 weeks later I got it back and it runs like a Charm. They replaced several parts and tested it extensively prior to shipping it back. Service Dept called me to see if I received it and am I satisfied. I am sad it happened for sure, however,,, I am really happy with Warranty and Customer Service Runs my AC in Lakota LQ Horse Trailer as well as everything else. Just as quiet as my old 3000 W Honda that it replaced
