Although electricity might not be a primary need for all, many of us just can’t help but admit that life can be very hard without it. In fact, even outdoorsmen would think that a generator would be a welcoming sight especially if they have been staying off the grid and out in the wild for many days.
As a homeowner and an avid camper, I always want to make sure that I have a generator that can help me and my family whenever we need it. One of the generators that I was recently able to take a look at was the Champion 3500w generator. Here’s my Champion 3500 watt generator review:
Before you buy a Champion 3500 watt generator, you need to take into consideration that this product might not be ideal for those that plan on using the unit for heavy duty purposes. This is because this unit is not known for durability or quality even if it can provide you with a very decent 3500w power output.
It is however, ideal for those that need to buy a generator on a budget. Champion generators are much more affordable and they often have specifications that can easily match those that high end ones can give. You should also know that this model is not an inverter.
The Champion 3500 watt generator is recommended for people that are looking for a product that they can use from time to time. They can use this generator during a power outage, during an emergency or for recreational purposes. Although it can be used on the job site, it is not ideal for very heavy usage.
If you plan on using a generator excessively, your money might be well spent on other products that are known for durability and quality. You should also keep in mind that this model is made in China and it is one of the products that are being made abroad to lessen its price.
Today we are going to review the Champion Power Equipment 46539 generator. This generator is rated for 3500 running watts and 4000 surge watts. This means that it can easily be used for a wide array of purposes at home, outdoors or at work since it can be used on various appliances and power tools.
This generator however, is mainly designed for use in the RV. This is because it features a standard 30 ampere RV outlet and because it is actually powerful enough to easily turn on a 15,000 BTU RV air conditioner. This product also features a 4–stroke OHV 196 cc engine for adequate power and durability.
This generator however, is not an inverter. It means that it does not have the technology to be able to turn the raw power that it produces into one that is cleaner. It also means that it might not be safe to use this model on electronics that are made up of small or sensitive parts since they might get fried.
This generator is known to be able to contain as much as 3.8 gallons of fuel. This allows the generator to easily run for several hours depending on how much load is being placed on the unit. It is however, rated to run for as long as 12 hours at 50% load with a full tank of gas before it needs another refill.
The Champion 3500 watt generator is unique simply because it uses gasoline that only has an octane level of 85. This means that it is less picky when it comes to the gasoline it consumes. If the gasoline in your area has an ethanol blend, the model can easily use it for as long as the blend is less than 10%.
This generator also features a fuel gauge so you can easily check the fuel level and know exactly when the unit will need a refill. This product is also CARB compliant making it easy to be shipped to California and it can also be legally used in areas here in the US because it is environmentally friendly.
This generator is basically rated for 3500 running watts and 4000 surge watts. In most cases, this output is decent enough to take on large appliances albeit one or two at a time. It can easily be used to power up basic home and outdoor appliances that includes lights, ACs, refs and outdoor grills or coolers.
For work or professional use, this generator can be used to start up power tools, chainsaws, electric drills and other heavy duty devices for a couple of hours. However, because it does not use inverter technology, you need to understand that using it for laptops, tablets and smart phones is ill advised.
To generate power, this model makes use of a 4–stroke OHV 196 cc engine. Its OHV engine is said to be quite reliable and capable of providing that much power. It also features a cold start technology allowing you to easily start the engine even during winter without having to go through a lot of hassle.
This generator offers a durable steel frame that can help protect and secure the engine as well as 2 thick wheels and a handle that you can use for easy transport. The tires will never go flat and the handles can also be folded easily for proper storage in your home or inside your own truck or RV.
The product has the Volt Guard feature that allows you to protect your appliances. This is because Volt guard is actually a surge protector that is installed on one of the generator’s side panel. This device can be used to help you avoid damaging your appliances just in case the power fluctuates unexpectedly.
This product also has an intelligauge that allows you to easily see hours, volts and hertz. What’s more, since it is designed to be RV ready, it provides you with an outlet for the RV and it also has enough power to turn on an RV air conditioner. This product also has a remote control for the on/off switch.
This product makes as much as 68 decibels from 23 feet; this makes it quite loud even for the other generators of the same class. This generator also does not have any automatic low oil shut off system. This means that you will have to manually look at the oil level to avoid damage and other problems.
This generator is a great alternative to the Champion model because it can provide you with almost the same power outputs. This generator however, is an inverter generator. The other differences include:
This product is a good alternative to the Champion generator since it is of the same class and it is also not an inverter generator. The main differences that it has with the Champion model include:
This generator is another great alternative that you can use if the Champion generator is not available in your area. The main differences that it has include:
The Champion 3500 watt generator is basically a nice product to use if you are in need of a generator to help you during an emergency or during a power outage. This product is quite useful on the job site and it can also be used outdoors for camping since it is designed to be RV ready.
This generator’ 3500 running watts and 4000 surge watts allow you to easily power up different home and outdoor appliances. You can easily run a wide array of power tools you need to use at work.
This generator is also quite unique simply because of its remote control and other useful features such as the cold start technology and volt protector. With a full tank, it can easily run for as long as 12 hours at 50% load. However, it does not have the low oil shut off which is actually important.
I highly recommend this product if you are on a budget and if you are looking for a generator that you can use from time to time. While this generator is not known for durability and reliability, you need to know that it is a decent and practical choice especially when you are not going to use it heavily.
